Geography

Location

As a winegrowing centre, Bermersheim vor der Höhe lies in Germany’s biggest winegrowing district, in the middle of Rhenish Hesse. It belongs to the Verbandsgemeinde of Alzey-Land, whose seat is in Alzey.

History

In 768, Bermersheim vor der Höhe had its first documentary mention on the occasion of an estate’s sale to Lorsch Abbey.

The epithet vor der Höhe (“before the heights”) has been borne since 1 April 1971.
